Who We Are

TallyAero ("AeroEdge," "we," "us," or "our") operates the TallyAero website (tallyaero.com) and the AeroEdge Logbook web application (aeroedge-logbook.web.app). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. Phone number is optional and only collected if you choose to enable SMS notifications.

Logbook Data: Flight entries, pilot profile, certificates, aircraft information, and documents you upload.

Usage Data: Basic analytics (via Google Analytics) to understand how the site and app are used.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the logbook application
• To send notification emails if you opt in (e.g., currency expiration reminders, medical certificate alerts, document expiration warnings)
• To send SMS text messages if you opt in (e.g., FAA currency alerts, medical certificate reminders, aircraft maintenance notifications)
• To respond to your support inquiries
• To improve our products

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using Firebase (Google Cloud). Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256 encryption. Sensitive documents are encrypted at rest. Your authentication tokens, draft entries, and local cache remain on your device only.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services solely for app functionality:

• Firebase (Google Cloud) — Authentication and data storage
• SendGrid — Email notifications (only if you enable email notifications)
• Twilio — SMS text message notifications (only if you enable SMS notifications)
• Google Analytics — Website usage analytics

We never sell your data. These services are used solely for app functionality.

Data Ownership & Export

Your data is yours. The app supports local-first storage and full data export. You can use the application entirely offline without syncing to the cloud. If you choose to delete your account, all cloud-stored data will be removed.

SMS/Text Message Notifications

SMS notifications are entirely optional and disabled by default. To receive SMS messages, you must:

1. Navigate to Notification Settings within the app
2. Enter your phone number
3. Check the consent checkbox explicitly agreeing to receive text messages
4. Verify your phone number with a 6-digit code sent via SMS

Types of SMS messages: FAA currency expiration alerts, medical certificate reminders, document expiration warnings, and aircraft maintenance notifications.

Message frequency: Varies based on your notification preferences, typically 1–10 messages per month.

Message and data rates may apply.

To opt out: Reply STOP to any message at any time, or disable SMS notifications in your app settings. Reply HELP for help. You can also contact us at [email protected] for assistance.

We do not share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. Your phone number is used exclusively for delivering the notifications you have opted into.

TallyAero Bridge Chrome Extension

The TallyAero Bridge Chrome extension auto-fills aviation forms (IACRA, MedXPress, airline applications) with data from your TallyAero logbook.

Local Storage Only: Your logbook data is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. It is never uploaded to any external server. Data syncs directly from the TallyAero web app to the extension through your browser's DOM — no network requests are involved.

Form Structure Submissions: When you voluntarily use "Map This Form" to map a new website, the form's field structure (HTML selectors, field names, and labels) is submitted to our server to help us support more websites. This submission does not include your personal data, flight hours, or any logbook information.

Permissions: The extension uses storage (to store synced data locally), activeTab (to inject the fill button on form pages), and scripting (to register auto-fill scripts for custom-mapped websites).

You can clear all extension data at any time using the "Clear Data" button in the extension popup.

Cookies

We use cookies for authentication (to keep you signed in) and analytics (Google Analytics). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TallyAero products, including the AeroEdge Logbook application and associated tools, you agree to these terms.

Description of Service

TallyAero provides digital aviation tools including a pilot logbook, aircraft management, training syllabus, and scheduling tools. These tools are designed to assist pilots with record-keeping, currency tracking, and training management.

Not a Substitute for Official Sources

TallyAero products are not for flight planning and are not a substitute for proper training. Always verify with official sources including the FAA, your aircraft's POH, and your flight instructor. Our tools are supplementary aids and do not replace professional judgment.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and the accuracy of the information you enter. You agree not to share your account credentials.

Data & Privacy

Your use of our services is also governed by our Privacy Policy above. By using our services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.

SMS/Text Message Terms

By opting in to SMS notifications within the AeroEdge Logbook app, you agree to receive text messages from AeroEdge at the phone number you provide. These messages include:

• FAA currency expiration alerts
• Medical certificate reminders
• Document expiration warnings
• Aircraft maintenance notifications

Consent is not a condition of purchase. SMS notifications are optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time in your Notification Settings.

Message frequency: Varies based on your settings, typically 1–10 messages per month.

To stop messages: Reply STOP at any time. After sending STOP, you will receive a one-time confirmation message. You will no longer receive SMS messages unless you re-enable them in the app.

Supported carriers include but are not limited to AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Service may not be available on all carriers.

Intellectual Property

All content, tools, and software provided by TallyAero are the intellectual property of TallyAero. Your logbook data, flight entries, and uploaded documents remain your property.

Limitation of Liability

TallyAero is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any decisions made based on data presented by our tools. Aviation decisions should always be verified with official sources.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time, and your cloud-stored data will be removed.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
