Abstract

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Leonardo S.p.A. Model AB139 and AW139 helicopters. This AD was prompted by a report of interference found in the overhead panel area between the electrical cables and adjacent connectors. This AD requires repetitively inspecting the overhead panel and, depending on the results, repairing or replacing the damaged wires. This AD also requires modifying the overhead panel on certain helicopters. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

AGENCY: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), DOT.

ACTION: Final rule.

SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Leonardo S.p.A. Model AB139 and AW139 helicopters. This AD was prompted by a report of interference found in the overhead panel area between the electrical cables and adjacent connectors. This AD requires repetitively inspecting the overhead panel and, depending on the results, repairing or replacing the damaged wires. This AD also requires modifying the overhead panel on certain helicopters. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

DATES: This AD is effective April 2, 2026. The Director of the Federal Register approved the incorporation by reference of a certain publication listed in this AD as of April 2, 2026.
