I started flying and inspecting distribution electric poles in Livingston Montana the morning of Day 0 around XA00. The area I was flying in is well outside of Livingston Proper and was what I considered to be a very rural area with a mountain on my south side and the yellowstone river on my north side. I "assumed" I was not anywhere close to restricted/controlled airspace which led to the mistake of not checking the Air Control Flight App for current airspace restrictions. The backside of the mountain, not in my field of view, has a small airfield (Mission FLD-LVM) that is controlled and I was flying in 0' controlled airspace. There were no flights in or out of the airport that morning. This was a learning experience for me that will not happen again as I will check any area, regardless of how "rural" it may seem, for any and all possible airspace restrictions. Thank you.
