T.C. Russell Field is a general aviation airport situated in Alexander City, Alabama. This airport is dedicated to providing pilots with affordable fuel and reasonably priced storage options for their aircraft. Located conveniently near a variety of amenities, including restaurants, retail shops, Lake Martin, Highway 280, and the Airport Industrial Park, it’s a great spot for pilots and visitors alike to drop by for a bite to eat or some shopping. In 2012, Alexander City completed the construction of a new terminal building to replace the original one that had been in use since 1964. The new terminal, spanning approximately 2,800 square feet, offers a range of modern facilities. These include a manager’s office, a spacious lobby and waiting area, a break room, a pilot’s lounge with a private bathroom, two public restrooms, a flight planning area, and a conference room available for public use. The construction of this new terminal was partially funded by two grants from the Alabama Department of Transportation-Aeronautics Bureau and the Alexander City General Fund. The need for the new terminal arose in anticipation of a new north/south parallel taxiway.
