About

I'm interested in acquiring an old Cessna 206 (P206 or older U206) to start a partnership or small club. Seems like a great balance all around. Much cheaper purchase and overhaul than newer Lycoming based models, with more useful load. The target aircraft is (or will be) IFR equipped (to help get there/home) but also outfitted for mountain flying and grass/dirt strips for exploring the amazing PNW. Would like to base at KBFI, and planning on tie-down due to outrageous hangar rates. Specs for a purchase, or future plans would include: - no corrosion, good condition airframe without a crazy number of hours - heavy nose gear - slightly upsized tires - STOL cuff (Sportsman preferred) - VG’s - Turbo model considered - Modern WAAS/IFR GPS - Garmin G5’s, Aspen PFD, or G3X (ideally simple panel, consolidating with modern instrumentation) - ADSB IN/OUT - Engine monitor - Autopilot (to help with workload while getting to/from the destination), modern digital autopilot strongly preferred. Prefer partners that appreciate what new technology brings to aviation, and fit more into the “upgrade” vs “repair/replace with the same” when it comes to equipment failures and logical upgrade opportunities. If the stars align it would also be a nice looking aircraft that is spouse approved. But, I would rather fly a well equipped safe aircraft than an old abused one with leather and fresh paint.:) Previous discussion with insurance providers informed me that 5 or less partners is easy, above that and it gets expensive/complicated. Premiums tend to charge based on the lowest experience, so private pilot, ideally with instrument rating, and 50hrs high perf time is strongly preferred. Early stages here, and in no hurry (in a good club at present), but if this describes your ideal partnership/club, please reach out.
