About

Congressional Flying Club (CFC) is a non-profit social flying club. CFC provides its members a safe, reliable, and affordable access to general aviation aircraft. Our name originates from Congressional Airport in Rockville, MD (now Congressional Shopping Center) where a group of Civil Air Patrol members, including Eberhard Trams, founded the Congressional Flying Club in the late 1940's. To this day, our flying club continues to be collocated with the the Montgomery Senior Squadron of Civil Air Patrol at Montgomery County Airpark (KGAI). When Congressional Airport was closed to make way for the shopping center in 1956, the Congressional Flying Club and Civil Air Patrol squadron moved out to Davis Airport (W50) in Laytonsville, MD. A few years later, CFC moved to the newly opened Montgomery County Airpark (KGAI) where the club and the CAP squadron still thrive today. Today, the Congressional Flying Club and Montgomery Senior Squadron are active and vibrant organizations. Many members participate in the monthly fly-ins to interesting destinations. The majority of the club's airplanes make the annual journey to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the mecca of American General Aviation, for the AirVenture air show. You can always find a crew of pilots at our weekly meetings sharing the infamous "there I was at 12,000 feet" hangar stories. Current CFC aircraft and rates (per TACH hour wet): Cessna 172N - N6269D and Cessna 172M - N23GV $170 Cessna 177B - N20300 $185 Cessna 182Q - N5244N $200 Monthly dues: $140 Initiation fee: $1,000
