About

-----Mission: The Daniel Boone Flying Club (DBFC) is organized for the purpose of encouraging and enabling participation in the field of aviation and allowing more people the opportunity to enjoy the experience of flight. -----History: The Club was formed in 2002 with four original members and one airplane. It has been in continuous operation since that time, calling Boonville, Missouri’s Jesse Viertel Memorial Airport (KVER) its home. It is a member equity, not-for-profit corporation in Missouri. There are seven board members responsible for the Club’s property, finances, and administrative tasks. Five serve in officer roles and two are at-large, voting members. For reasons related to insurance and administrative burden, the Club size is capped at 30 members, where it has remained for several years. A prospective member pool is maintained for individuals who are interested and qualified. -----Meetings: Meetings take place at KVER on the second Sunday of each month. Likely one of the greatest benefits of membership in the DBFC, this time is set aside to conduct business (the board has that primary responsibility), hold each other accountable to standards, rules, regulations, and best practices, and to communicate with one another on topics that will help members become better pilots. A number of social gatherings take place throughout the year, as well. Visitors are welcome to attend meetings at any time. -----Planes: The Club has three planes that are all stored in hangars: a Cessna 172K, a Cessna 177B, and a Cessna 182R (an RG aircraft that covers complex/high-performance needs). All three are IFR certified, have WAAS enabled GPS systems, a second NAV/COM, and an ADS-B-Out transponder. Two are equipped with very capable autopilots and digital engine monitoring systems. Additionally, the Club owns a Fly This Sim BATD device that may be used for training and maintaining currency.
