About
The Fort Sam Houston Flying Club is a private equity partnership owning a single Cessna 172M, which we hangar at GateOne (the FBO) at Stinson Airport, San Antonio, TX. The plane has approximately 8500 total Airframe hours and the engine has approximately 1200 hours SMOH. We recently have redone most of the interior and both the interior and exterior are in great shape. Most members of the club are instrument rated, so we maintain the aircraft to be IFR current, with new avionics in the center stack. Garmin 650 provides the primary navigation and situational awareness with Comm/Nav 1 and a stand-alone radio for Comm/Nav 2. Also, we have a new transponder with ADSB In to be compliant with the FAA 2020 mandate and receive traffic awareness alerts. We currently have 12 members who equally share ownership in the club. Occassionally, members put their shares up for sale to qualified applicants. The minimum requirement is a valid Private Pilots License, due to insurance reasons. We don't allow basic PPL training, but we encourage our members to train for advanced ratings with their own CFIs in our airplane.
