About
The Greene County Flying Club was started by SOAR in 2017. SOAR stands for Support Our Aviation Resources. SOAR is a 501C3, tax exempt foundation and was founded by a group of pilots and aviation enthusiasts several years ago who wanted to make sure we didn’t lose our little airport to a giant shopping center. SOAR sponsored the Greene County Flying Club in 2017 with the understanding that we would spin off as our own entity in two years. We are located at KWAY, Waynesburg, PA. Early in 2019 we learned we were approved by the IRS as a 501C3 charity and we continued as a flying club with our new mission: To provide access to safe and affordable flight and flight training to club members and to promote and support experimentation in all forms of aviation including drones, electric aircraft, ultra-lights and alternative airborne vehicles. We have three planes. For the Piper Challenger, we charge $94 per Hobbs hour, wet. The Taylorcraft F22A is a rare bird. This is one of six planes that were manufactured by Taylorcraft before they went bankrupt. We charge $74 per Hobbs hour and this is also wet. Finally, we have the Ercoupe 415D which gets $54 per Hobbs hour, wet.
