About
The Low Flying Angels is a Sacramento-based flying club that was established in 1966 as a not-for-profit Corporation. It is comprised of 12 shareholders, each who own an equal share in the club’s 1978 Cessna 172 Skyhawk II (C172N). The aircraft is IFR certified and is equipped with ILS, dual NAVCOMS, dual G5s and a Garmin GNX 375 IFR certified WAAS GPS. It is based at KMHR in Rancho Cordova and reserved for use by shareholders via an online calendar. Shareholders and the club's Board of Directors comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Flight Director meet quarterly to discuss club finances, aircraft maintenance, safety, and to make decisions concerning the club’s aircraft and corporate by-laws. To be eligible to own a share, you must be a current, licensed pilot with a minimum of 100 hours of PIC time. Our club has a maximum of 12 shareholders, each who has the right to own their share for life, but may choose to sell their share at any time, at any price, to an eligible purchaser. While we have no visibility to when a share may come up for sale, we historically have had one to two transactions per year. Shareholders pay monthly dues, which cover fixed costs and an hourly (wet) use fee. The use fee covers the cost of fuel and is used to replenish the club’s maintenance fund, a portion of which is held in reserve for engine and propeller replacement. Monthly dues are currently set at $230 and the hourly use fee is set at $145. We toggle the "Memberships Currently Available" flag on if we have a current share for sale, and we toggle it off if there are no current shares available. If there are no shares currently available, eligible, interested pilots may contact us to join our waiting list. We do allow a small number of interested parties to place a fully-refundable $2500 deposit with us to get priority placement on that waitlist if they desire. Recent share sales have transacted for ~$15,000/share.
