There are numerous Active and Retired military pilots in the Tampa Bay region. MacDill AFB does not have a flight club on base. Pilots whether on active duty or retired must find an affordable flying solution in order to maintain currency, be an active flyer, or have a social network of fellow pilots. Mid-Florida Right Flyers, INC (MFRF) intends that active duty, retired, separated, and other former military members are a core element of its membership. This stipulation is not meant to preclude membership by non-military affiliated individuals, nor preclude membership by individuals seeking to become pilots or gain higher qualifications as a pilot. However, the club does focus on servicing pilots requiring recent flight time as they transition from Military to Civil/Commercial aviation careers.
