Tailwinds Flying Partnership is based at Lake Elmo airport, 21D, in Lake Elmo, MN. We are a non-profit corporation of 39 pilots who equally own three aircraft. Our goal and philosophy are to fly great airplanes inexpensively. We strive for consistency in equipment among our three airplanes. Tailwinds was established in 1970 and has continually upgraded its airplanes and hanger facilities. Currently we have three airplanes. The three Piper aircraft are equipped with the same avionics. This spring all of the airplanes are being updated to the Garmin G3x touch screen system and 100% glass panel. Our airplanes are expertly maintained from member A&P's and external services as required. Our philosophy to fly great airplanes as inexpensively as possible has drawn pilots to our club and keeps them flying. We use a web based scheduling system at www.AircraftClubs.com with an additional phone access feature. About once a month during the summer months our members get together and wash and wax the airplanes to keep them looking their best. All members take pride in our planes and care for them accordingly. After each flight, we wash off the bugs, clean the windows, and straighten out the cabin so the next pilot has a clean plane. Our By-Laws and Rules & Regulations are designed to provide structure where needed without being overly restrictive.
