Development and Evaluation of an Online Fatigue Training Course for Collegiate Aviation Pilots

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have called for a holistic approach toward improving safety.

Dimensionality Assessment of Fatigue in Collegiate Aviation Operations: A Structural Equation Modeling Approach

There have been recommendations for evidence-based studies into the safety risk posed by fatigue in the flight training environment from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), National Transportation Safet…

Fatigue in Aircraft Maintenance Technician Schools

Fatigue has long been identified as a human factor in aviation. Subsequently, a series of studies have highlighted fatigue-related elements within the context of the aviation industry, focusing on the flight deck – with …

Fatigue In Collegiate Aviation

Flight training has received little attention in fatigue research. Only transfers of knowledge gained in commercial and military aviation have been applied to general aviation without bridging the gap to the training env…

Collegiate Aviation Pilots: Analyses of Fatigue Related Decision-Making Scenarios

According to Dawson and McCulloch (2005), indicating factors for pilot fatigue may be difficult to ascertain. However, fatigue is a probable cause in 15%-20% of all aircraft accidents (Akerstedt, 2000).

Fatigue Identification and Management in Flight Training: An Investigation of Collegiate Aviation Pilots

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate collegiate aviation students’ self-awareness of their fatigue issues; to investigate possible causes of fatigue afflicting collegiate aviation students; and to investi…

Integrating Fatigue Management with Safety Management Systems for Commercial Flightcrew Operations

Fatigue remains a significant hazard in commercial aviation and has been a major concern among all stakeholders for decades. This review of the literature explores the current prescriptive structure of the regulatory env…

Pilot Perceptions on Impact of Crew Rest Regulations on Safety and Fatigue

The risk of fatigue on pilot performance and safety is well recognized in aviation. In response to increased safety concerns, the Federal Aviation Administration addressed fatigue risk for passenger airline pilots in Tit…
