Outline: The orbital debris (OD) problem: The environment; Long-term population growth; Risk to space missions. OD mitigation, space situational awareness (SSA), andvspace traffic management (STM). Orbital debris (OD) definition: human-made debris in Earth orbit. Space debris (SD) definition: micrometeoroids and orbital debris (MMOD).
