Factual narrative
On April 11, 2003 at 1130 central daylight time, a Venture experimental airplane, CGDJF, registered to and operated by a Canadian private pilot, veered off the side of runway 04 and nosed over during an attempted landing at Isbell Field, Fort Payne, Alabama. The personal flight was operated under the provision of Title 14 CFR Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident and no flight plan was filed. The airplane was substantially damaged and the pilot was not injured. The flight departed Centre Municipal Airport, Centre, Alabama on April 11, 2003 at 1115. According to the pilot, during the landing roll, as the nose wheel touched down on the runway surface, the airplane veered to the left. The pilot applied right brake and the airplane veered off the left side of runway 04, and nosed over. The airplane came to rest inverted. The pilot did not report any flight control or mechanical malfunctions prior to the accident. Examination of the airplane revealed the propeller blades were bent, and damage to the tail and both wings. Examination of the airplane did not reveal any flight control or mechanical malfunctions.
