Probable cause & findings

The student pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing resulting in a runway excursion and impact with a sign.

Factual narrative

The student pilot reported that during landing the airplane ballooned and the right wing dipped. She said that she overcorrected, and the airplane went to the left side of the runway and struck a sign resulting in substantial damage to the airplane’s fuselage.
