Probable cause & findings

The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from the crops during an aerial application flight.

Factual narrative

The pilot reported that he was conducting an aerial application spray pass when the airplane made contact with the crop which pulled the airplane down. The airplane struck the ground. The left wing of the airplane was substantially damaged. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
