the failure of the pilot to maintain directional control.

Factual narrative

On July 31, 1994, about 1500 eastern daylight time, a Boeing A75N1, N44MK, sustained substantial damage when the pilot lost directional control and the airplane ground-looped during landing roll at the Oakland-Pontiac Airport, Waterford, Michigan. The private pilot was not injured. The personal flight originated at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. No flight plan was filed, and visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time. The pilot landed on runway 27L (6200'x150'). The wind was from 230 degrees at 10 knots. The pilot stated the airplane abruptly turned to the right and collapsed the right main landing rear during landing roll. DURING LANDING ROLL THE PILOT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND THE AIRPLANE GROUND LOOPED, COLLAPSING THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE LANDING WAS ON RUNWAY 27L. THE WIND WAS 230 DEGREES AT 10 KNOTS.
