Probable cause & findings

The pilot's improper use of brakes on landing rollout.

Factual narrative

On June 2, 1998, about 1300 eastern daylight time, a Mejia Bacon II experimental airplane, N24EM, registered to a private owner nosed over on landing rollout at Winter Haven's Municipal Airport, Winter Haven, Florida. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed. The airplane sustained substantial damage. The private pilot reported no injuries. The flight originated from Winter Haven's Municipal Airport about 1 hour before the accident. The pilot stated on landing rollout on runway 29 that he used excessive brakes.
