Factual narrative

On February 24, 2001, about 2000 Pacific standard time, a Piper PA-28-181, N8133C, sustained substantial damage after colliding with a delivery vehicle located on the ramp at North Bend Municipal Airport, North Bend, Oregon. The airplane is owned and operated by the pilot, and was being operated as a visual flight rules (VFR) personal flight under Title 14, CFR Part 91, when the accident occurred. The private pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, was not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed for the local night currency flight. The pilot submitted a written statement to the NTSB, dated March 7, 2001, and reported that he was taxiing the airplane between two ground vehicles located near the airport terminal. He stated that he momentarily became distracted and inadvertently ran the airplane into an unoccupied ground delivery vehicle. The airplane's right wing sustained substantial damage.
