Probable cause & findings

AN INADVERTENT WHEELS UP LANDING.

Factual narrative

On September 3, 1994, approximately 1200 hours mountain daylight time (mdt), a Cessna 210D, N3759Y, registered to Randolph Flyers, and being flown by Kenneth R. Brown, a private pilot, was substantially damaged during a gear up landing on runway 10 at the Bear Lake County Airport, Paris, Idaho. The pilot, three passengers and one child were uninjured. Visual meteorological conditions existed and no flight plan had been filed. The local flight, which was personal in nature, was to have been operated in accordance with 14CFR91. In a written statement, the pilot reported that he landed at the Bear Lake Airport to pick up his passengers for a local flight of the area. When the flight returned for landing, the pilot reported that he "failed to lower the landing gear." The airplane landed gear up and skidded to a stop on the runway. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE MADE A GEAR UP LANDING WHEN HE FAILED TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR. THE AIRPLANE SKIDDED TO A STOP ON THE RUNWAY.
