Probable cause & findings

The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing roll.

Factual narrative

The pilot of a tailwheel equipped airplane reported that during landing roll, as he transitioned to taxiing, he mistakenly applied the incorrect crosswind correction. The airplane ground looped to the left and the right wing impacted the runway surface, resulting in substantial damage to the right wing and aileron. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
