SAIB CE-04-01 —
What is a SAIB?
A Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is an FAA-issued advisory — not mandatory like an AD, but worth knowing about. SAIBs typically flag service bulletins, manufacturer recommendations, or emerging issues that don't (yet) rise to AD level.

Introduction This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) alerts owners and operators of Cessna Model T182 airplanes with the Serial Numbers listed below that you must comply with AD 87-20-03 R2. This AD was written prior to the production of the Cessna model T182T airplanes and therefore does not apply to the T182T airplanes. Owners and operators of the other Cessna models identified in AD 87-20-03 R2 must comply.
Model Serial Numbers Cessna T182 182267716 through 18268586
Background AD 87-20-03 R2 concerns the inspection of the seat locking mechanism on certain Cessna models as identified in the applicability. The seats on the newer Cessna Model T182T airplanes do not have the locking mechanism that was installed on the earlier Cessna Model T182 airplanes. The word “All” is used in the Serial Number block of the AD for the Cessna Model T182 airplanes. Although the statement is correct, inspectors have incorrectly interpreted “All” to include the Cessna Model T182T airplanes. This SAIB clarifies the applicable Serial Numbers of the Cessna Model T182 airplanes that must comply with AD 87-20-03 R2.
Information AD 87-20-03 R2 does not apply to Cessna Model T182T airplanes.
