SAIB CE-04-09 Current Issued 10/23/2003 SOCATA TB 9 | TB 10 | TB 200

What is a SAIB?

A Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is an FAA-issued advisory — not mandatory like an AD, but worth knowing about. SAIBs typically flag service bulletins, manufacturer recommendations, or emerging issues that don't (yet) rise to AD level.

Introduction This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) alerts you, an owner or operator of SOCATA TB 9, TB 10, and TB 200 airplanes, that SOCATA has issued a Service Bulletin (SB) No. 10-138, dated May 2003, “Nose Gear Fork.” The French DGAC has issued an Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2003-285(A), dated August 06, 2003, referencing the SB 10-138. This SB specifies the following aircraft and that the nose gear fork may possibly have inverted material grain.

Models Serial Numbers 2054 2074-2155 TB 9, TB 10, and TB 200 2184

Background There exists a possibility of incorrect material grain flow due to a wrong manufacturing process.

Recommendation We are recommending, but not requiring, that owners and operators of SOCATA TB 9, TB 10, and TB 200 aircraft listed above, accomplish inspection at the next major inspection or before December 31, 2003, to check for Nose Gear Fork correct material grain flow and if necessary replace as stated in SB 10-138.
