SAIB CE-04-67 Current Issued 05/06/2004 Learjet Inc 35 | 36

What is a SAIB?

A Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is an FAA-issued advisory — not mandatory like an AD, but worth knowing about. SAIBs typically flag service bulletins, manufacturer recommendations, or emerging issues that don't (yet) rise to AD level.

Introduction

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin informs you, owners and operators of Learjet (Gates) model 35 and 36, of the availability of Bombardier Aerospace Recommended Service Bulletin (SB) 35/36-35-4.

Background

We have received reports, including a safety recommendation from the National Transportation Safety Board, that verifying the ON-OFF position of the oxygen bottle regulator is difficult to ascertain visually on the Learjet 35 and 36. Bombardier has re-designed the ON-OFF placards for this regulator and their SB 35/36-35-4 provides instructions to install the new placards.

Recommendation

We highly recommend that you install the newly designed oxygen bottle regulator ON-OFF placards as instructed in Bombardier Aerospace Service Bulletin SB 35/36-35-4.
