SAIB CE-05-83 Current Issued 08/26/2005 Raytheon Aircraft Company 1900 | 1900C | 1900D

What is a SAIB?

A Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is an FAA-issued advisory — not mandatory like an AD, but worth knowing about. SAIBs typically flag service bulletins, manufacturer recommendations, or emerging issues that don't (yet) rise to AD level.

Introduction

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) informs you, owners and operators of Raytheon (Beech) Model 1900, 1900C and 1900D airplanes of an alternative method of compliance (AMOC) to Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2003-20-10. This AMOC allows you to use a version of the Raytheon Maintenance Manual that incorporates the revised figures of the elevator trim drum and the elevator trim operational check procedures instead of the temporary MM revisions called out in the AD.

Background

We issued AD 2003-20-10 to mandate an elevator trim operational check any time you perform maintenance on the trim system. The AD included revised figures showing the forward elevator trim drum in the correct orientation, and called out temporary revisions to the maintenance manual which incorporated operational checks of the elevator trim system to be performed any time you performed maintenance on the system.

The AMOC

The AMOC allows you to use a version of the Raytheon Maintenance Manual that incorporates the revised figures of the elevator trim drum and the elevator trim operational check procedures instead of the temporary MM revisions called out in AD 2003-20-10.

The AMOC is detailed in and approved through FAA letter, dated August 4, 2005 (attached).
