What is a SAIB?
A Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is an FAA-issued advisory — not mandatory like an AD, but worth knowing about. SAIBs typically flag service bulletins, manufacturer recommendations, or emerging issues that don't (yet) rise to AD level.

FAA Aviation Safety SPECIAL AIRWORTHINESS INFORMATION BULLETIN SAIB: CE-11-09 SUBJ: Navigation – Flight Management Computing Software System Date: January 5, 2011 This is information only. Recommendations aren’t mandatory.
Introduction
This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin informs owners, operators, and maintenance personnel of a faulty transition logic that allows the Flight Management System (FMS) to display incorrect altitude limits.
Applicable aircraft makes and models are those with an Avidyne Entegra Integrated Flight Display (IFD) system installed, part number 700-00083-( ), any software Release. These include, per STC SA00282BO, Cirrus Design Corporation SR20/SR22 and Piper Aircraft, Inc. PA-46R-350T.
At this time, the FAA has determined that this airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive (AD) action under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 39.
Background
Due to issues in the FMS software, there are departure, arrival and approach procedures that display incorrect altitude constraints on the waypoints in the flight plan. These incorrect altitude constraints could be falsely too high or too low and are present on departures, arrivals and approaches.
Recommendations
The FAA recommends compliance with Avidyne Service Information Letter, SIL Number 606- 00083-009.
