Introduction

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is being issued to alert operators and owners of Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM Model P2006T airplanes of an airworthiness concern, specifically that there may be the wrong rudder trim actuator part number identified in the aircraft maintenance manual (AMM).

We are considering issuing an FAA AD under 14 CFR part 39 for mandatory corrective action and the referenced documents are recommendations and not FAA mandatory requirements.

Background

On October 27, 2017, Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM released Service Bulletin SB285-CS-Ed1 Rev 0 informing customers that the P2006T AMM includes a typographical error concerning the rudder trim actuator part number (P/N) reported in the ATA Chapter 04 “Airworthiness Limitation” section. The AMM wrongly reports the B6-11T P/N instead of the correct one of B6-7T. However, the time limit related to this part, reported in the AMM, refers to the correct rudder trim actuator P/N B6-7T so it remains unchanged.

As corrective action, Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM will fix the typographical error in the next revision of the AMM reporting the correct actuator P/N. In the meantime, Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM is updating all documentation with the proper P/N part number and specifying replacement of the actuator immediately if not already done at the 1,000-hour life limit scheduled expiration.

Recommendations

The FAA recommends that owners and operators of the above named airplane model comply with the provisions of the Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM Service Bulletin SB285-CS-Ed1 Rev 0.
