Installation of Baumann Model BF2550A floats. For models 172I through 172P, a gross weight of 2350 lbs. at a center of gravity range of plus 39.5 inches to plus 45.5 inches is approved. For models R172K and R172K with STCs SA1436CE and SA1437CE, the maximum gross weight is limited to 2550 lbs. at a center og gravity range of plus 39.5 inches to plus 45.5 inches.
What is an STC?
A Supplemental Type Certificate authorizes a major modification or alteration to an FAA-certificated aircraft. STCs are how operators legally install new avionics, change fuel systems, add floats, swap engines, etc. — every change beyond a minor modification needs one.
