Format

ICAO Annex 3 / FAA Order 7900.5 standard text. We parse wind, visibility, weather phenomena, cloud layers, temp/dewpoint, altimeter, RVR groups, and TAF change groups (FM, BECMG, TEMPO, PROB).

Flight category

Per FAA Order 7110.10: the worse of ceiling and visibility determines VFR / MVFR / IFR / LIFR. The decoder also names the limiting factor so the UI can explain why.

Density altitude

ICAO standard atmosphere formula: pressure altitude from elevation and altimeter, then density altitude from pressure altitude and the deviation from ISA. Requires a field elevation; defaults to sea level if you don't enter one.
