What is a TSOA?

A Technical Standard Order Authorization is the FAA's permit for a manufacturer to produce equipment that meets a specific TSO standard (avionics, seats, parachutes, GPS receivers, etc.). The TSO sets the performance requirement; the TSOA is the holder's authorization to deliver compliant parts.
