Probable cause & findings

The pilot’s improper landing flare and subsequent improper recovery from a bounced landing, which resulted in substantial damage to the engine mounts.

Factual narrative

The private pilot reported that the airplane was flown at a relatively high speed during final approach with flaps set to 10 degrees. Upon touchdown, the airplane bounced and porpoised, resulting in a nose landing gear collapse. The airplane’s engine mounts were substantially damaged during the accident sequence.
