Factual narrative
THE PLT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, HE SMELLED FUEL & OBSERVED A WET SPOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE COCKPIT FLOOR. HE EXECUTED A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING, TAXIED TO THE RAMP & SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE. AS HE PULLED THE MIXTURE CONTROL AFT, FLAMES ERUPTED FROM UNDER THE RIGHT PANEL.
