N4031W has since been reassigned. It is now registered to a different aircraft (ROBINSON HELICOPTER R22 BETA, built 1990), which was not involved in this event.
Aircraft involved
Factual narrative
THE AIRCRAFT MADE A FORCED LANDING GOING UPSLOPE ON A RIVER BANK FOLLOWING AN ENGINE FAILURE. THE LANDING WAS MADE JUST SHORT OF AN OPEN FIELD. THE ENGINE FAILURE OCCURRED AT 1404 FEET. THE POWER LOSS WAS DUE TO FAILURE OF CRANKSHAFT GEAR INDEXING DOWEL PIN. Source: NTSB Aviation Accident Database (Pre-2008 Archive) Retrieved: 2026-02-12
