Introduction

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin advises you, registered owners of Cessna Aircraft Co. model 300 and 400 series aircraft, of a possible problem with cabin heater fuel lines that may be corroded, chafed, or leaking.

Background

Our service difficulty reporting system shows several instances of problems with leaking, chafing, and corroding of the rigid fuel lines associated with the combustion heater installation in Cessna 300 and 400 series aircraft. These lines supply fuel from the aircraft’s main fuel system to the combustion heater assembly in the nose compartment of the aircraft.

Cessna issued two service bulletins (SBs) for the 300 and 400 series aircraft to provide maintenance personnel instructions how to inspect, replace, and leak check all fuel lines associated with the combustion heater installation. Recommendation

We recommend: • Inspecting the combustion heater installation fuel lines on Cessna 300 and 400 series aircraft per Cessna SBs MEB04-1 or MEB95-9.

• Anytime the combustion heater is removed for maintenance, overhaul, or compliance with an Airworthiness Directive, maintenance personnel should incorporate the inspection procedures outlined in the two SBs.

• Replacing any fuel line found with signs of corrosion or chafing. Fuel lines may be locally fabricated. Stainless steel lines are preferred if fabricated locally.
