SAIB CE-06-46R1 —
What is a SAIB?
A Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is an FAA-issued advisory — not mandatory like an AD, but worth knowing about. SAIBs typically flag service bulletins, manufacturer recommendations, or emerging issues that don't (yet) rise to AD level.

Introduction
This document revises Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) CE-06-46, dated May 24, 2006,to include the following Cessna make and models: 150, 152, 172, 172R, 172S, 172RG, 177, 177RG, 180, 182, 182S, R182, T182, 185, 206, T206, 208, 210, T210, T303, 310, 335, 340, 402, 404, 414, 421, 425, and 441. SAIB CE-06-46 describes a discrepancy with Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) placard, provided by Cessna Aircraft Company, part number 1205085-2.
This SAIB revision corrects the applicable Cessna models and adds the part numbers of the placard (table 1). All other information remains the same.
Background
The routine surveillance of a Cessna Model 152 discovered that the ELT placard was wearing off the panel. The operator’s certified technician ordered a new ELT placard; part number 1205085-2, from Cessna, the technician noticed that the new placard references the wrong FAA regulation. The placard he ordered reads “EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER INSTALLED BEHIND THIS COVER MUST BE SERVICED IN ACCORDANCE WITH FAR PART 91.52.” FAA regulation 91.52 no longer exist, and has been superseded by 14 CFR Part 91.207.
Cessna has removed the old placard from its inventory, and is in the process of producing a new placard. The new placard will read “EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER INSTALLED BEHIND THIS COVER. MUST BE SERVICED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 14 CFR Part 91.207.” The new placard part numbers are referenced in the table below. Cessna will also revise their maintenance manuals and parts catalogs at their next scheduled revision.
