Introduction

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) is being issued to alert owners, operators, maintenance technicians, and inspectors of an airworthiness concern for certain M7 Aerospace, LLC (M7 Aerospace) Models SA226-T/-T(B)/-AT/-TC and SA227-TT /-AT/- AC/-BC/-CC/-DC airplanes (under Type Certificate Data Sheets A5SW, A8SW, and A18SW). Specifically, this SAIB provides inspection procedures and on-condition maintenance actions for the main landing gear for the affected airplanes.

At this time, the airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive (AD) action under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 39.

Background

M7 Aerospace issued the following Service Bulletins (SB) for inspection, repair, and replacement of the left and right main landing gear yoke torque link lug and shaft:

1. SB 226-32-083 for SA226-T/-T(B)/-AT/-TC airplanes with Part Number (P/N) 27-51505-XXX main landing gear yoke and P/N 27-52529-XXX torque link shaft installed; 2. SB 227-032-064 for SA227-TT/-AT/-AC/-BC airplanes with P/N 27-51505-XXX main landing gear yoke and P/N 27-52529-XXX torque link shaft installed; 3. SB 227-32-065 for SA227-AT/-AC/-BC with 16,000 lb. maximum gross take-off weight main landing gear installed with M7/Fairchild yoke P/N 27-51505-XXX; and 4. SB CC7-32-030 for SA227-CC/-DC airplanes with M7/Fairchild main landing gear yoke P/N 27-51505-XXX.

Failure of the yoke torque link lug or shaft can affect the airplane’s directional ground control.

Recommendations

The FAA recommends owners and operators of the affected airplanes above comply with the procedures in the applicable SB’s.
