Probable cause & findings

The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

Factual narrative

According to the pilot, he was performing touch and goe landings on runway 22 (7,400 feet by 100 feet, asphalt) when he lost directional control and departed the runway to the left. The right wing contacted the ground and the airplane nosed over. The lower right wing ribs were splintered and the main spar was broken. The right wing struts were bent and the upper wing spar was broken. The rudder was crushed and the top portion of the vertical stabilizer was buckled. An examination of the airplane systems, conducted by the FAA, revealed no anomalies. According to the pilot, he was performing touch and go landings when he lost directional control and departed the runway to the left. The right wing contacted the ground and the airplane nosed over, resulting in substantial damage. An examination of the airplane systems revealed no anomalies.
