Factual narrative
THE PILOT STATED THAT HE NOTICED HE WAS UNEXPECTEDLY LOW ON FUEL. AS HE APPROACHED THE AUGUSTA, MAINE AIRPORT. HE RADIOED THE AUGUSTA FSS AND TRANSMITTED THE FACT. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE ENGINE QUIT AND THE PILOT EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A WOODED AREA. EXAMINATION OF THE ENGINE AFTER THE ACCIDENT REVEALED THAT A PLASTIC FUEL LINE FITTING ON THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP OUTLET WAS FOUND TO BE LOOSE. THERE WAS ALSO SIGNIFICANT FUEL STAINING FOUND IN THE VICINITY OF THE FUEL LINE FITTING. Source: NTSB Aviation Accident Database (Pre-2008 Archive) Retrieved: 2026-02-12
