Factual narrative

THE PILOT WAS REPORTLY DEPARTING ON A XCOUNTRY FLT. DURING CLIMBOUT, IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN, UPON REACHING BASE LEG AREA THE ACFT WAS OBSERVED TO TURN BACK TOWARDS THE ARPT DESCEND AND STRIKE THE GROUND.
